Summer ’16: Drake’s ‘One Dance’ Is Frontrunner for Song of the Summer
At roughly one-third of the way through summer, the track (featuring WizKid & Kyla) has led the Songs of the Summer chart in each of the list's first five weeks.
Just past July 4th beach-going and barbecuing, Drake‘s “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla, continues to be the hottest song of the summer of 2016. Over the first five weeks of Billboard‘s Songs of the Summer chart, the track has ranked at No. 1 in each frame.
So, at about a third of the way through summer, the collab, which has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight total, and seven consecutive, weeks, continues to set the pace among summer’s biggest hits so far.
Billboard’s Songs of the Summer Chart
The 20-position Songs of the Summer running tally tracks the most popular titles based on cumulative performance on the weekly Hot 100 chart from Memorial Day through Labor Day. At the end of the season, the top song of the summer will be crowned.
Rounding out the Songs of the Summer top five, Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” ranks at No. 2, followed by Desiigner’s “Panda” (No. 3), The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down,” featuring Daya (No. 4), and Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, fittingly at the chart’s fifth spot.

Just outside the Songs of the Summer top five, Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For,” featuring Rihanna, has made the biggest climb in the top 10 so far, rising from No. 9 on the season’s first ranking to No. 6. Other notable rising songs: Sia’s “Cheap Thrills,” featuring Sean Paul (No. 11, up from No. 19 four weeks ago); twenty one pilots’ “Ride” (No. 13 in its fourth week); and Florida Georgia Line’s “H.O.L.Y.” (No. 16 in its third week).
